Professional Engineer 1 (Civil)

Under the direction of the Regional Director or designee, the incumbent will serve as first in command for the Regional Maintenance Department, overseeing lower level managers and numerous sub-departments including Electrical Line Crew/Electricians, Water & Wastewater Treatment Plants, Plumbers/Steamfitters, Highways/Heavy Equipment, Mechanics Garage/Fleet, Building Trades (Carpenters & Masons), and the Paint & Sign Shop; to administer, plan, and supervise maintenance and construction projects in State Park facilities across Allegany Region. Duties will include, but are not limited to:
o In collaboration with each facility manager, identifies and corrects deficiencies in park structures, infrastructure, and facilitates routine maintenance and repair. o In coordination with each facility manager, develops and implements a preventive maintenance program and maintenance and repair policies and procedures. o Supervises and evaluates contractor performance when required. o Identifies and prioritizes routine and critical maintenance and repair activities in consultation with the Regional Director or designee. o Develops and submits budget requests, tracks expenditures, and operates within assigned budget allocations. o Provides technical expertise to subordinate staff daily and guides their work in the field to ensure work is conducted according to plans and specifications. o Evaluates the need for and arranges or conducts training programs to improve skills of the Regional Maintenance Team. o Acts as liaison between Operations and Capital staff to secure building permits and ensure code compliance. o Coordinate with Capital staff for materials testing as needed. o Work with Capital staff to secure plan records and project documents as needed. o Assists Regional Director in the development of annual State Parks Infrastructure Fund (SPIF) budget. o Assists Regional Director in meetings with Capital District Managers in the development of 5-year Capital plans. o Coordinates Regional Maintenance staff and resources to support Capital District projects in consultation with the Regional Director. o Maintains workflow scheduling and timelines for Regional Maintenance projects, adjusts to address time sensitive or unanticipated needs. o Coordinates scheduling and timelines with Assistant Regional Director and Park Managers. o Assist with Agency Emergency Management duties and requests.

Salary Range:
From $83550 to $105472 Annually
Minimum Qualification
Must possess a New York State Professional Engineer's license and current registration. For Permanent Appointment:

Candidates must be reachable on the Civil Service eligible list for Professional Engineer 1 (Civil). If you are on the Civil Service eligible list for this title, you may receive a canvass letter. Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service as a Professional Engineer 1 with one of the following parenthetical title designations:
Mechanical, Mechanical/HVAC, Electrical, Civil, Civil/Construction, Civil/Geotechnical, Civil/Structural, Civil/Transportation, Environmental, Industrial or Fire Protection AND possess a New York State Professional Engineer's license and current registration.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
