Parks and Recreation Aide 5 (Two positions available)

The incumbent will work in Park Operations under the direction of the Park Manager or designee. The incumbent will perform the following duties:
o Perform desk support and park steward/night maintenance activities, providing afterhours coverage for the non-emergency 24-hour Park Operations Support Desk; o Monitor, answer, and appropriately respond to inquiries and calls for assistance during overnight hours. Each shift will consist of a public facing staff member assigned to the desk and at least one staff member assigned to field response and roving duties; o Receive telephone calls and in-person reports and requests for assistance from the public; o Monitor radio communications and answer radio calls; o Communicate and coordinate with NYS Park Police dispatch as appropriate; o Maintain logs of all known activities and calls that occur during each shift, and ensure appropriate measures are taken while coordinating and communicating with response team members and management; o Record and relay accurate and timely information; o Register incoming campers and distribute late-keys; o Patrol camping and recreational areas, interact with park patrons, and provide information/support as appropriate; o Work to enforce park rules and regulations through education and voluntary compliance for minor infractions, and notify NYS Park Police as appropriate, and for all other law enforcement matters; o Inspect and report on the general condition of specific operational areas as assigned, or the facility as a whole; o Provide assessment reports to inform park management's decisions regarding call-outs for specialized personnel; o Perform call-outs of operations and skilled trades staff; o Conduct minor cabin/cottage/comfort station maintenance repairs; o Clear debris from park roads and bike paths; o Conduct snow removal activities as needed; o Communicate with and check in on Camper Assistance Program volunteers; o Conduct campground audits; o Be assigned as a point of contact for after-hour events; o Assist with nuisance wildlife complaints; o Restock comfort station supplies; o Supervise seasonal staff as assigned; o Perform other duties as assigned.

Salary Range:
From $17.98 to $17.98 Hourly
Minimum Qualification
No Minimum Qualifications per Civil Service.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
