Invasive Species Technician (1)

The regional Invasive Species Technician will work closely with OPRHP regional Biologist, Stewardship Specialist, and Invasive Species Unit staff to meet regional and statewide stewardship goals. The work of the Invasive Species Technician will focus largely on supporting projects that involve the protection of rare, threatened, and endangered species and natural communities on Park lands and Historic Sites. Job duties will primarily involve the survey, management, and monitoring of invasive species (both terrestrial and aquatic), but may also include:
site restoration and monitoring, database management, project planning, and education/outreach as well as other duties to be determined at the discretion of regional staff. Duties may vary slightly per region.
Job Function

Salary Range:
From $16.75 to $16.75 Hourly
Minimum Qualification
o A degree or experience in Forestry, Environmental Studies, Ecology, Natural Resources Management, or a relevant discipline, such as Aquatic Ecology, Conservation Biology, etc. o Excellent organizational skills in a field setting o A working knowledge of GPS/GIS and ecological monitoring methods o Ability to work and maintain a good attitude, while performing physical work in a variety of conditions o Strong interest in and commitment to environmental stewardship and a team-oriented approach to solving environmental challenges o Must possess a valid driver's license PREFERRED SKILLS AND
Experience:
o One or more years of experience with invasive species identification and control methods o Backcountry orienteering and Leave No Trace experience is a plusEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
