Wildlife Technician

The regional Wildlife Technician will work closely with the OPRHP regional Forester II, Biologist, Stewardship Specialist, and Natural Resource Management staff to meet regional and statewide stewardship goals. The duties of the Wildlife Technician will focus largely on education and outreach to park patrons, providing information regarding wildlife issues and food storage compliance protocols. The technicians will work with a goal of reducing human-wildlife conflicts by detecting and mitigating the availability of human food in campgrounds, picnic areas, parking lots and other park areas. Additional duties include assisting with monitoring movement and location of bears using radio telemetry, trapping and relocation of bears and other wildlife, performing aversive conditioning techniques, data collection and entry, assisting with Canada Goose Management, etc.
Job Function

Salary Range:
From $16.75 to $16.75 Hourly
Minimum Qualification
o Must possess a valid driver's license o Must have excellent organizational skills in field setting o Must have excellent communication skills o Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office and other basic computer skills o Must have an ability to work and maintain a good attitude while performing job duties and interacting with park patrons o Must have a strong interest in, and commitment to environmental stewardship as well as a team-oriented approach to solving environmental challenges PREFERRED SKILLS AND
Experience:
o Prior education or experience in Wildlife Management or similar field o Backcountry orienteering and Leave No Trace experience is a plusEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
